Congratulations Anna - winner of KS1 COBIS Art Competition

2021-05-07

Hangzhou international school Wellington participated in the Art competition organized by COBIS at the beginning of the year. Our Year 1 pupil, Anna Z, has been chosen as the winner of the Key Stage 1 category in the competition. With more than 600 entries from 99 international schools worldwide, this is a fantastic achievement. Anna’s colourful work depicts the connection of love within the family unit. Her careful treatment of the pictorial space, thoughtful composition and balanced use of warm and cool colours enhance the theme of togetherness.

At Wellington College International Hangzhou, we believe it is important to provide pupils of all ages opportunities to engage in Art competitions. These experiences are invaluable for pupils to use their imagination, develop creative skills, and extend their understanding. Working on visual art and craft projects promotes hand / eye coordination, confidence, and wellbeing. Learning to work together is another benefit. Our Year 5 pupils participated in the competition by creating collaborative artworks. The variety and quality of submissions reflect our pupils’ hard work and enthusiasm and demonstrates their growing appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts.
